Jamie Lee Curtis Comments on Charlie Kirk’s Death After “Disagreeing with Him on Everything”

Jamie Lee Curtis recently shared her poignant thoughts on the tragic death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, discussing the psychological impact of watching viral videos of such incidents.

On September 10, 31-year-old Charlie Kirk was fatally shot during an outdoor speaking event at an educational institution in Utah. The investigation into his assassination is still ongoing, according to FBI officials.

In a recent interview with Marc Maron on his WTF podcast, published on Sunday, September 15, actress Jamie Lee Curtis condemned the shooting of Kirk at Utah Valley University.

“I want to bring something up with you because it’s been on my mind,” the Freaky Friday star said during the episode.

She then mistakenly referred to Kirk as “Charlie Crist,” explaining that the error occurred because of his “deep, deep belief” in religion.

“I disagreed with him on almost every point I ever heard him speak about, but I believe he was a man of faith, and I hope in that moment when he died, he felt connected with his faith,” Curtis continued.

“Even though his ideas were abhorrent to me, I still recognize him as a father, a husband, and a man of faith. I hope that whatever connection to God means, he felt it,” she added.

Fighting back tears, the 66-year-old actress acknowledged the video footage of Kirk’s assassination circulating online, and she revealed that she knew people who had watched it.

“Yesterday [on 9/11], we watched again those images of those buildings coming down… Today, we as a society are bombarded with imagery. So we don’t know what the long-term effects of seeing those towers fall over and over again, or watching his execution over and over again, might be,” she said.

“We don’t know enough psychologically about what that does. What does that do? I never want to see this footage of this man being shot,” she added.

Jamie Lee Curtis is not the only celebrity to comment on Kirk’s death. Other public figures such as Marvel actor Chris Pratt, former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger, and influencer Jake Paul have also publicly expressed their thoughts.

Former U.S. Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden also released statements, with President Biden claiming, “There is no place in our country for this kind of violence,” and adding, “Jill and I are praying for Charlie Kirk’s family and loved ones.”

Vice President Kamala Harris also said she was “deeply disturbed” by the fatal shooting in Utah and that she “condemned the act.”

Investigators have arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson as the suspect in Kirk’s killing.

The Utah native was taken into custody less than 48 hours after the tragedy and has reportedly been refusing to cooperate with law enforcement, according to state Governor Spencer Cox.

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino noted that Robinson exhibited “multiple warning signs” before the shooting, and the agency is investigating whether the event was “part of a larger effort.”
